Chiara Cappelletto

Chiara Cappelletto is Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the Department of Philosophy, University of Milan. Her research areas include phenomenological aesthetics, contemporary aesthetics, neuroaesthetics, visual culture and performance studies, and rhetoric. Her research interests include topics such as agency, performativity, embodiment and public discourse. She takes a materialist and feminist approach to discussing the aesthetic processes by which the self is constructed through different types of media. She has been a visiting fellow at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University (NY), the IEA (Paris), Princeton University, the Kolleg-Forschergruppe BildEvidenz Geschichte und Ästhetik (Berlin) and the University of Berkeley (California). She was an associate member of CRAL (EHESS, Paris) and participates in the international project IdEM-Identification, empathie, projection dans les arts du spectacle (CNRS). In 2005, she won the IX Castiglioncello Philosophical Prize for young researchers.
